In a book the story of the navy Sorrento
Tuesday, June 7 at 19, at the Council Chamber of the City of Sorrento, will be presented the book entitled "The navy of the Sorrento peninsula and the wooden shipbuilding of Fair Marina in Marina Grande."
The book, written by Biagio Passaro and Massimo Maresca, traces the history of the local marine through the images of men and best known families of owners of the Sorrento coast, the school boats, ships and shipyards from the eighteenth century to today have made great the history of navigation Sorrento.
In addition to the authors, will take part in Francesco Pinto, director of the production of RAI Naples, Girolamo Imbruglia, a professor at the Oriental Institute, the writer Giovanna Mozzillo, the Mayor of Sorrento, Giuseppe Cuomo, the director of the Foundation SorrentoLuigi Gargiulo and president of research and documentation of studies on marine Sorrento, Gioacchino Longobardi. The event is organized by the studies on marine research and documentation of the Sorrento peninsula and the naval museum "Mario Maresca," in collaboration with the Marine Technical Institute "Nino Bixio" Piano di Sorrento and the local branch of Lions Club and with the sponsorship of the City of Sorrento and the Sorrento Foundation.
In Villa Fiorentino, the seat of the Foundation, takes place until 26 June, from 10am to 13 and from 16 to 21 with an exhibition ship models, ship portatraits, paintings, nautical instruments, nautical figureheads and funerary objects.
